What's New in Financial Aid

Attention Graduate Students:  As a result of the Budget Control Act of 2011, SEC. 502, subsidized loans cannot be awarded to graduate and professional students (college grade level 6 and 7) for loan periods beginning on or after July 1, 2012.  The amount of loan eligibility will be the same but none of it will be subsidized (up to $8,500 per academic year is currently subsidized – meaning that the government is paying the interest while you are in school).  You will be responsible for the interest from the time the funds are received (it is better to make the interest payments while you are in school but it can be deferred also).  This does not affect subsidized loans that you already have.  Visit http://financialaid.truman.edu/staffordloans.asp for more information on Stafford Loans. FAFSA Frenzy:  Need help completing your FAFSA?  FAFSA Frenzy is coming soon to a location near you.  Visit www.dhe.mo.gov/ppc/fafsa_completion.php for more information. (Posted: January 27, 2012)

Summer Financial Aid:  Summer Financial Aid Applications will be available after spring break. (Posted: February 2, 2012)

Federal Pell Grant Semester Limit:  Due to the recently enacted Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012 (Public Law 112-74) the duration of a student’s eligibility to receive a Federal Pell Grant will be 12 semesters (or its equivalent).  This change is effective with the 2012-2013 Award Year and applies to all Federal Pell Grant eligible students.
