2011 - 2012 Freshman Academic Year Budget Calculation Work Sheet

The full-time 2011-2012 undergraduate tuition for Missouri residents is $6,772.

(Undergraduate tuition is a flat fee for students taking 12-17 credit hours per semester.  Tuition includes the Student Recreation Center Fee and the Student Union Fee.) 

 

The listing of Residence Halls and Rates for 2011 - 2012 can be found at:   http://reslife.truman.edu/information/fees/1011.asp.  The average double occupancy room and board rate (includes meals) for 2011-2012 is $7,406.  Multiple occupancy (3 to 4 people) is available at a reduced rate.

 

Additional charges for all new freshmen include student fees for Truman Week/orientation, Activities, Athletics and Health Services.

 

Costs are subject to change by the Board of Governors.

**There may be additional charges for discretionary fees - parking sticker ($100/year), course overloads (over 17 credit hours per semester), special course, lab or materials fees (applicable to only selected courses; reflected in first billing), etc.

 

**Books and supplies are purchased separately and not billed through the University. Costs vary but an amount should be estimated when determining a realistic budget for the year. (Based on a national average, the maximum amount allowed for books and supplies in our cost of attendance is $1,000.)

 

**Personal Expenses and Transportation Costs vary from student to student but some amount needs to be considered in your personal budget planning.  (Based on a national average, the amount allowed in our cost of attendance is $4,000).

***Other possible sources of aid:  outside scholarships and awards (check with guidance counselor, local organizations, church, parent’s employer, free on-line scholarship searches), gifts, savings, employment, Federal Parent PLUS Loan, private or alternative loan (borrow only the amount needed when all other resources are not enough).

 

Watch your mail for information from Student Accounts about payments and the flexible payment plan (four installments per semester).  The statement with your actual Fall 2011 semester charges and estimated financial aid to date will be sent in early August.
